The Kuwait Red Crescent Society, in cooperation with the Kuwaiti Development Fund, visited and provided assistance to the Rohingya refugee camp in the Cox-Bazar region on the border of Bangladesh and Myanmar.
The aid was distributed in the Cox-Bazar region in the presence of Kuwait’s Ambassador to Bangladesh Mr. Adel Hayat and in cooperation with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development and in coordination with the United Nations World Food Program (WFP), the secretary-general of the association said in a telephone conversation with Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) .
The relief campaign includes the distribution of food to more than 14,000 refugees there, and rice, lentils and vegetable oil will be provided for three months at a total value of US $ 500,000.
She explained that the Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development contributed $ 1 million to provide humanitarian aid to the refugees, indicating that the delegation was briefed on the tragic situation and the difficult conditions experienced by the refugees, which lack the basic elements of life.
Kuwait has allocated $ 15 million to relief the Rohingya through its charitable institutions and institutions, stressing that the association always seeks to alleviate the tragedy of the refugees and highlight their suffering in order to spread them widely and interact with them humanely.
And appealed to regional and international humanitarian and human rights organizations to intensify their efforts and humanitarian movements to provide their assistance to those affected and to alleviate their suffering.
The Assembly said that this work comes as a tribute to the directives of the Commander of Humanitarian Action HH the Amir.
The Kuwaiti delegation was headed by the Secretary General of the Association and a representative of the Kuwait Fund for Development. The delegation included a number of volunteers, with the participation of Kuwait Ambassador to Bangladesh Mr. Adel Hayat and a number of representatives of international relief organizations and the UN World Food Program who thanked Kuwait for its continued support to the affected peoples, .
